University Hall (U-Hall) parking Lots
U-Hall West: The largest parking area at U-Hall, the West Lot is a BLUE permit area for commuters. Many events at the John Paul Jones Arena will require permit holders to vacate this lot 3 hours prior to the event start time, but no earlier than 5:30PM on weekdays.
U-Hall East: Also known as the McCue Lot due to its close proximety to McCue Hall, the East Lot is also a BLUE commuter parking area.
U-Hall Cage:
JPJ Surface Lot: All U.Va parking Permits are valid in the JPJ Surface Lot. Virtually all events require permit holders to vacate the JPJ Surface Lots three hours prior to an event at the John Paul Jones Arena. Unlike the U-Hall lots, permit holders may need to vacate the JPJ Surface Lot prior to 5:30PM on weekdays.

General Information

Once the home of Men's and Women's Basketball, University Hall (U-Hall) is now used for athletic practices and special events. The lots surrounding U-Hall provide ample parking to University faculty, staff, and students, as well as additional parking for large events at the nearby John Paul Jones Arena (JPJ).

Visitors of the University may also purchase a Temporary Blue parking permit for a nominal fee. The University Transit Service (UTS) provides bus service to and from the lots at U-Hall on several routes to virtually all areas of grounds. Event Impact on Permit Holders

Permit holders will have to vacate the lots at the John Paul Jones Arena (surface lot and garage) for virtually all events at the arena three hours prior to the event start time. Permit holders may also be required to vacate the U-Hall lots (East, West, and Cage) for larger arena events three hours prior to the event start time, but not before 5:30PM on weekdays (Monday-Friday). Permit holders should regularly check the JPJ Event Impact Schedule for details, vacate dates/times, and other instructions.

The parking lots at U-Hall are serviced by UTS at three stops in U-Hall West and at stops along Massie Road near U-Hall East

    From U-Hall South, U-Hall, and U-Hall/Massie Road (all in the U-Hall West lot)
  • Northline: Service to North Grounds, Barracks Road Shopping Center, Emmet/Ivy Garage, Central Grounds, and Hereford College
  • Central Grounds Shuttle: Service to Emmet/Ivy Garage, Central Grounds, and Copeley Family Housing
  • Green Route: Service to Emmet/Ivy Garage, Newcomb Hall, and the Health System
    From U-Hall CG (bus shelter in the middle of U-Hall West)
  • Central Grounds Shuttle: Service to Central Grounds and Copeley Family Housing

Occasional Parker Program

Parking and Transportation has implemented an Occasional Parking Program for the commuter parking lots at University Hall (U-Hall). This program provides a book of 10 permits valid in the University Hall parking lots that will allow the customer to park 10 times (up to 24 hours at a time) for a one-time charge (view current rates). U.Va faculty, staff, and students (other than a First-Year students) may participate in this program, making it perfect for lecture series students, bicycle riders, and any other occasional visitors to the University.

Parking at the University Hall Parking Lots may be restricted before, during, and after certain events at the John Paul Jones Arena. Please check the JPJ Event Impact Schedule frequently for updates and lot vacate times.

To participate in the program and obtain your Occasional Parker Permits, please visit the Parking and Transportation Office located at 1101 Millmont Street, behind the Barracks Road Shopping Center.
