Health System Patients and Visitors of Patients


General Information

University Health System departments may apply for a permanent validation account to cover the parking fees for patients of the Health System and visitors of those patients. Please note that this type of account is not meant to validate parking fees for visitors of the Health System, vendors, residents, students, or employees.

Parking Accommodations for Patients and Their Visitors

Visitors of the Health System and their visitors may park in the Lee Street Garage located across from the main Hospital. Patients visiting the Jefferson Park Avenue Medical Office Building may park in the nearby 11th Street Garage accessible from 11th Street off of West Main Street and from Jefferson Park Avenue.

Patients and their visitors parking at the Lee Street Garage will be issued a Green Parking ticket upon entry into the garage. Patients will present this Green Ticket during patient registration to receive a Pink Validation ticket. Visitors of patients may present their Green Ticket to the Information Desk to obtain their Pink Validation ticket. When leaving, patients and their visitors may present their Green Ticket and Pink Validation ticket to the Booth Attendant upon exit.

Lee Street Garage

Patients parking in the 11th Street Garage will be issued a Green parking ticket upon entry into the garage. Patients will present this Green Ticket during patient registration to receive a Pink Validation ticket. Patients will need to use the ticket reader at each exit in the 11th Street Garage to have their parking fee validated. Patients should enter the Green Ticket into the machine and then enter the Pink Validation once prompted to do so.

Setting Up an Account

All patient validation accounts must be approved by the Health System Parking Office. To set up an account, please download the fill out the Health System Patient Validation Request Form available here. Once completed, please fax the form to 434-924-9967 or mail the form to the attention of the Health System Parking Office at West Complex, Davis Hallway, Room 1289 (Box 800456).

The Health System Parking Office will notify the applicant of approval or rejection. Once approved, the requested validation tickets will be available for pick up at the Parking and Transportation Office located at 1101 Millmont Street within 3 business days of approval.

Health System Department Guests

General Information

University Departments located in the Health System may request an account to cover the parking fees for guests visiting their department. Please note this type of account is not meant for patients and visitors of patients.

Parking Accommodations for Health System Visitors

Department visitors may park in the 11th Street Garage (Levels D-G only) accessible from 11th Street off of West Main Street and from Jefferson Park Avenue. Department visitors are not permitted to park in the Lee Street Garage. Unauthorized parking in the Lee Street Garage may result in ticketing and towing.

Department visitors parking in the 11th Street Garage will be issued a Green parking ticket upon entry into the garage. Visitors will present this Green Ticket during their visit to the department to receive their Blue Validation ticket. Visitors will need to use one of the Pay-On-Foot stations or use the ticket reader at each exit in the 11th Street Garage to have their parking fee validated. In either case, the visitor should enter the Green Ticket into the machine and then enter the Blue Validation once prompted to do so.

Setting Up an Account

To set up an account, please download the fill out the Department Guest Validation Request Form available here. Once completed, please fax the form to 434-924-3980 or mail the form to the attention of the Facilities Operations Division at the Parking and Transportation Office located at P.O. 400000, Charlottesville, VA 22904.

Once received, Parking and Transportation Facilities Operations Office will send an e-mail to the address provided on the request form to acknowledge that the request has been approved or denied. Once approved, the requested validation tickets will be available for pick up at the Parking and Transportation Office located at 1101 Millmont Street within 3 business days.
