Bice House

Lift Enforcement Until September 12, 2008: The S3 parking areas around the Bice House are currently not being enforced while students obtain permits. Students may not park in the K2 areas. Please refer to the Bice House Parking Map.

There is currently a grace period for S3 parking permits in the S3/K2 lot located at the Bice House. Due to over congestion of the lot, which will clear after housing assignments have been completed, P&T will be designating a “special” section of parking for the K2 permit holders. This area will be enforced along with the regular enforcement of the S8 and HC spaces. A map of the parking lot showing the K2 section can be found here. Also vehicles parked in Fire lanes will be towed at the owners expense.

Students who have not yet received or obtained a parking permit, may park at the Blue commuter areas at U-Hall until September 12, 2008.

  • An S3 permit is required in the parking area surrounding Bice House, Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-5PM.
  • Only residents of Bice House are eligible to purchase S3 parking permits.
  • *S3 permits are honored both in the S3 lot and the large Orange/Storage areas at University Hall. (*refer to special instruction section)

Process to obtain an S3 permit:
One S3 permit per apartment/suite is assigned to an individual of the apartment/suite's choosing. The remaining permits are assigned via lottery. Winners of the lottery may purchase their S3 permit at the Parking and Transportation Office, Monday-Friday between 7:30am-5:00pm.

Residents who do not receive the apartment/suite space and who do not win the lottery may purchase an EIG/S permit valid on certain levels of the Emmet/Ivy Garage.

The Office and Residence Life and the Department of Parking & Transportation work together the last two days before classes start in the fall semester to make the parking assignments. Upon check-in, contact your Resident Staff advisor for more information.

What to do if S3 is full:
If the S3 lot is full, S3 permit holders should proceed to the Orange/Storage areas at University Hall.

Orange/Storage Areas at University Hall:

  • The Cage lot located behind University Hall near the turf field and the railroad tracks*
  • The East Lot located between the McCue Center and the Emmet Street*

* On the days of special events at John Paul Jones Arena or University Hall see special instructions below.

*Special Instructions for events at John Paul Jones Arena and University Hall
University Hall will not be available for overflow parking on the nights of certain special events at the John Paul Jones Arena. Please check the JPJ Event Impact Schedule for specific dates.
