McCormick and Alderman Road Dorms

First year students may not have a vehicle in the Charlottesville or Albemarle County area. (Effective Fall 2003)
A limited number of exceptions may be made to the prohibition of first-year student cars. Written applications must be made through the Office of the Dean of Students.
If an exception is granted, students may purchase S permits valid in the Orange/Storage areas at University Hall or Emmet/Ivy Garage.

Process to Obtain an S Permit:
S permits may be purchased Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-5PM, at the P&T office located at 1101 Millmont Street.

Orange/Storage Areas at University Hall:

The Cage lot located behind University Hall near the turf field and the railroad tracks*
The East Lot located between the McCue Center and the Emmet Street*

On the days of special events at John Paul Jones arena or University Hall:

S permit holders will receive a special permit valid in the Emmet/Ivy Parking Garage on the nights parking must be vacated at University Hall due to events. This special permit will allow entry into the garage beginning at 5PM on the day before an event at John Paul Jones arena. Permit holders must vacate by 7:30AM on the second day following an event to avoid a release fee from the garage.

For example, for an event on August 30, the special permit will allow entry/exit to the Emmet/Ivy Garage from 5PM on August 29. through 7:30AM on September 1. Permit holders will receive specific instructions upon purchasing the permit.
