Resident Staff

Resident staff parking assignments are made through the Office of Residence Life. For those students who are not assigned to the limited staff parking at each residence area, staff will be assigned to the S6 parking lot located near Gooch/Dillard (Stadium Road Residence Area).

  • An S6 permit is required in the parking area near Gooch/Dillard, Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-5PM.
  • S6 permits are honored both in S6 and the Orange/Storage areas at University Hall.
  • S6 permit holders must relocate to the Orange/Storage areas by 1AM on the days of home football games. Click here to link to the U.Va Athletics home page where the home men's football schedule can be viewed.

Process to obtain an S6 permit:
Permits are sold on a first come, first serve basis. .The Department of Parking & Transportation (P&T) holds an on-grounds Student Permit Sales each year in August. After that sale date, permits may be purchased Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-5PM, at the P&T office located at 1101 Millmont Street. To give residents time to purchase the permit, permit restrictions are lifted in S6 during the week classes begin in the fall semester. All other restrictions like driveways, fire lanes, prohibited zones, grass/dirt, etc. are enforced normally throughout the year. If S6 permits sell out, residents may purchase S permits valid in the Emmet/Ivy Parking Garage and the large Orange/Storage areas at University Hall .

What to do if S6 is full:
If S6 is full, S6 permit holders should proceed to the Orange/Storage areas at University Hall .

Orange/Storage Areas at University Hall:

  • The Cage lot located behind University Hall near the turf field and the railroad tracks*
  • The East Lot located between the McCue Center and the Emmet Street*

* On the days of special events at John Paul Jones Arena or University Hall see special instructions below.

University Hall will not be available for overflow parking on the nights of certain special events at the John Paul Jones Arena. Please check the JPJ Impact Schedule for specific dates.
