Permits for Academic Employees
Academic Employees may choose from the following types of permits based on availability:
Commuter Permits
Due to the limited availability of parking on grounds, most employees will need to purchase a Commuter permit. Commuter permits are priced significantly lower than the more convenient Reserved permits, and are available without having to join a waiting list.
Additionally, the University Transit Service (UTS) provides frequent and convenient service to all of the Commuter parking lots to help employees easily and timely get to and from their place of employment.
Blue Permit |

Permit Type: Blue (Commuter parking - General Permit)
Valid Locations: Commuter Lots (U-Hall, John Paul Jones Arena, Carruthers, The Park, Police Station, Visitors Center, Rehabilitation Center, Ivy Stacks, and Fontana Food Center)
Additional Locations: A10, E3, and D3 after 3:30pm

Details: Blue and Red (see below) permits are the most easily accessible and inexpensive parking permits available to employees. parking at University Hall and the John Paul Jones Arena is restricted during certain John Paul Jones Arena events, requiring permit holders to relocate to the Emmet/Ivy Garage. Please check the JPJ Impact Schedule frequently if you are a Blue permit holder. Blue permits will be available for sale at the parking and Transportation Office, located at 1101 Millmont Street, between the hours of 7:30am-5:00pm, Monday-Friday (please check the Service Schedule for holiday closings).
University Transit Service: U-Hall is serviced by various UTS routes including the Northline Connector, the Green Route, the Colonnade Shuttle, and the Central Grounds Shuttle. Permit holders should refer to the UTS Route Finder to find the route that best serves their needs. |

EIG PERMIT |

Permit Type: EIG (Reserved parking - Commuter Permit)
Valid Locations: Emmet/Ivy Garage (Levels 1-3)

Details: The Emmet/Ivy Garage requires a transponder card for entry and exit. A $25.00 refundable deposit is required at the time of purchase.
University Transit Service: The Emmet/Ivy Garage is serviced by various UTS routes including the Northline Connector, the Green Route, the Colonnade Shuttle, and the Central Grounds Shuttle. Permit holders should refer to the UTS Route Finder to find the route that best serves their needs. |

Fontaine Research Park |

Permit Type: U9 (Commuter Parking - General Permit)

- Fontaine Research Park (U9 Parking Areas Only)
- Commuter Lots (U6 at Northridge, U-Hall, John Paul Jones Arena, Carruthers, The Park, Police Station, Visitors Center, Rehabilitation Center, Ivy Stacks, and Fontana Food Center)
Price Per Year: Refer to Service Rates
Details: As of February 1, 2011, a U9 parking permit will be required for employees who work at the Fontaine Research Park.

- Northridge Medical Office Building (U6 Parking Areas Only)
- Commuter Lots (U9 at Fontaine, U-Hall, John Paul Jones Arena, Carruthers, The Park, Police Station, Visitors Center, Rehabilitation Center, Ivy Stacks, and Fontana Food Center)

PIEDMONT FACULTY HOUSING |
|
Permit Type: F3 (Reserved Parking - Faculty Housing Permits)
Valid Locations: F3 lots throughout the Piedmont Faculty Housing Area
Price Per Year: Refer to Service Rates
Details: Students, faculty, or staff who live in Piedmont Faculty Housing are eligible to purchase reserved parking permits for parking lots associated with their residence area. Resident permits are valid in the area noted on the permit and in the Orange/Storage areas of U-Hall. One guest pass, valid in designated guest areas within resident parking lots, are given to residents of married family housing at no charge.
Special Instructions: If the lot is full, permit holders should proceed to the Orange/Storage areas at University Hall (U-Hall). These areas include the Cage Lot located behind U-Hall near the turf field and the railroad tracks, and at the East Lot located between the McCue Center and Emmet Street. Please note that the lots at U-Hall will not be available during certain events at the John Paul Jones Arena (JPJ). Permit holders should regularly check the JPJ Event Impact Schedule for specific dates and times.
University Transit Service: Residents needing to relocate to the lots at U-Hall will be best served by the UTS's Northline Connector which provides service from U-Hall to the Runk Dining Hall near the Piedmont Faculty Housing area. Residents may also use a combination of the Northline and the Inner U-Loop. |

Reserved Permits
Academic employees are also eligible for the more convenient Reserved parking permits. Since these types of permit are in high demand, their availability is limited. Some permit types may require you to sign onto a waiting list until more permits become available. Reserved permits are also priced higher than the more readily available commuter permits.
