Health System Faculty and Staff

Commuter Parking

Most new Faculty and Staff working at the Health System will park in the parking areas located further away from the Health System precinct, specifically in the Commuter parking areas located at Scott Stadium, at the Emmet/Ivy Parking Garage, and at University Hall.

Benefits of Commuter Parking

  • Available without special assignment
  • Priced significantly lower than the closer-in Green/Reserved parking
  • Served extensively by University Transit Service, which offers frequent and dedicated service to the U.Va Health System

Commuter parking is an excellent option for those Faculty and Staff who are waiting assignment in a Green/Reserved area or for those who simply prefer to purchase the lower cost alternative. University Transit Service (UTS) offers convenient shuttle services to and from these satellite lots that surround the University.

Close-In Parking Assignments

Parking closer to the Health System precinct (Green/Reserved) - is assigned based on:

  • job category
  • schedule and
  • length of service

Individuals working in the U.Va Health System should contact their manager, or contact Facilities Planning and Capital Development at 434-924-5147 to find out more about parking assignments within the U.Va Health System precinct.

Obtaining a Permit

Parking & Transportation representatives will be on-hand during Health System Orientation to issue permits (must pay by check or payroll deduction). Permit sales are conducted during the Health Systems New Employee Orientation held at 999 Grove Street. Otherwise, permits may be purchased at the Department of Parking & Transportation office, Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-5PM. The Department is located at 1101 Millmont Street, behind Barracks Road Shopping Center. The Department office is closed on most University holidays. Faculty and staff permits are renewed through the mail each Spring.
