Permits Available to Faculty and Staff at the University:

- Commuter Parking - General Permits
Types: Blue, Red, Y0, and U-Hall

- Reserved Parking - Commuter Permits
Types: A10, D3, E1, E3, and EIG

- Reserved Parking - Premium Permits
Types: A0, A1, A3, A6, A9, A11, C1, C3, C5, D1, D2, D4, R1, R2, R6, T3, T4, T5, W1, W2, W3, W4, W6, Y1, Y2, Z1, Z2, Z3, and Z6

- Reserved Parking - Darden School Garage
(Assignments made by the Darden School)
Types: D10

- Occassional Parking Permits
Types: Emmet/Ivy Garage, Culbreth Road Garage, and U-Hall

Most new Faculty and Staff working at the University will be issued either Commuter Parking - General Permits or Reserved Parking - Commuter Permits valid at the Emmet/Ivy Garage and at the commuter lots at University Hall.

Reserved Parking - Premium Permits, which allow for parking closer to the academic buildings, are also available but are very limited. To obtain this type of permit, Faculty and Staff will be put on a Waiting List and will be required to purchase a different type of permit until the desired Premium Permit becomes available.

Served extensively by University Transit Service, which offers frequent service to Central Grounds, West Grounds, North Grounds and the U.Va Health System

Commuter parking is an excellent option for those Faculty and Staff who are waiting for a spot in a Green/Reserved area or for those who simply prefer to purchase the lower cost alternative. Check out the University Transit Service which offers fantastic shuttle services to-and-from the satellite lots that surround the University.

Obtaining a Permit
Permits may be purchased at the Department of Parking & Transportation Office, Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-5PM. The Department is located at 1101 Millmont Street, behind Barracks Road Shopping Center (click for external link) and beside the Marriott Residence Inn (click for external link). The Department office is closed on most University holidays. Faculty and staff permits are renewed through the mail every spring.
