All meters have a two-hour maximum. Vehicles are not permitted to use meter spaces for more than two consecutive hours in a zone, regardless of how much payment is made while the vehicle is parked at the meter (i.e. "feeding the meter"). Vehicles found in violation of the two-hour limit will be ticketed, immobilized (booted), and/or towed at the owners expense.

Warning citations are not issued for meter violations, thus each ticket will result in a payable fine.

Meter Malfunctions: If a meter malfunctions, that space must not be used and the malfunction should be reported to the Department of Parking and Transportation at 434-924-7231 or parking@virginia.edu. A refund of money may be requested within one business day of the loss.
