The UVa Program in Perú has a long tradition of offering visiting students from the United States the opportunity to live with Peruvian families. The UARM’s Office of International relations, together with the program’s resident staff, is responsible for administering its home-stay program. Participants in the University of Virginia Program in Perú will live with families of Universidad Ruiz de Montoya students, staff, and faculty members, as well as other specially selected homes. With the exception of lunches when they are at the UARM, they will take their meals with the sponsoring families. During the week they will usually take lunch in the student cafeteria on the campus of the UARM using student meal-plan tickets. In addition, the program includes occasional group lunches and/or dinners at out-of-the-way places, in order to provide students with the opportunity to try cuisine from various regions of Perú. Students will also have the opportunity to sample local cuisine on their own in the numerous restaurants of Lima, recognized as one of the gastronomic capitals of the world. |
