"Study for Jefferson Dreams" (12" x 16"), by Lincoln Perry, a painter who lives most of the year in Charlottesville.
The painting, which was done on site looking toward the Rotunda, was a study for "Jefferson Dreams," a large diptych completed while Perry was a visiting professor at the University. Most of Perry's paintings are narrative group-figure compositions, so by contrast this study has a haunting unpopulated look and functions as an empty stage waiting to be animated by interacting figures.
Mr. Perry's works are exhibited in private and public collections throughout the country.
