Thursday night football game
To the University community:
On Thursday night we have an opportunity to showcase U.Va. to a nationwide audience. The ESPN network is here to televise our ACC football game (the last home game for 2012) against the University of North Carolina. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
Thursday night home football games don't happen often but they are a part of the Atlantic Coast Conference's contract with ESPN. When they do occur, many if not all in the U.Va. community are affected in some way.
Most obvious will be transportation and parking challenges, as fans will be making their way to Scott Stadium at around the same time as many of you are going home. I ask that you be patient, and give yourself plenty of extra time to travel safely.
Many of you will need to move your vehicles from your work parking lots earlier on game day. Details about which areas are specifically affected have been communicated by our Department of Parking and Transportation, and are also available here: www.virginia.edu/parking/events/special.html
Many people have worked diligently to mitigate the impact of a midweek game, to ensure that classes are held and that patient care is not disrupted, while welcoming thousands to Grounds.
I encourage everyone to take advantage of this opportunity to show the best of U.Va. to a national audience. Let's welcome Cavalier fans and other visitors to Charlottesville and, of course, enjoy the game. Go 'Hoos!
