Strategic Plan Update
September 18, 2013
To the University community:
As you know, we have been working together for more than a year to develop a new strategic plan to guide U.Va. in the years ahead. This process has involved thousands of people, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents and friends. The level of involvement and the passion shown have inspired those involved in the effort.
Today, I write to update you on the process, and to invite you to continue your engagement in the development of this important roadmap to our future.
This week, the Board of Visitors will receive an update on this process and will hear details about three of the 15 strategies that we believe will provide opportunities for the University of Virginia to serve as a national and international leader. These strategies support the five primary strategic drivers, or "pillars," that are the framework of our draft plan.
You can read more about this latest milestone in the process here. For even more background and context, visit our strategic planning website here. I appreciate the continued counsel of the deans, vice presidents, and Faculty Senate as we complete a draft of the plan for the November Board meeting.
On behalf of the Board of Visitors Special Committee on Strategic Planning and the Strategic Planning Steering Committee, I thank you for your interest and participation.
Teresa A. Sullivan, President
