UVA Faculty Senate electronic and social media portals: now open!

June 20, 2012 — To all SEAS Faculty and Staff

Today we (Faculty Senate's Task force on Electronic Communication) set up several social media websites to allow the faculty, students, staff, and public to become more fully involved in the UVA faculty senate's response to president Sullivan departure.

We have set up a Facebook page to allow people to post comments, make suggestions, follow events, and actions of the senate faculty. It is at:

http://www.facebook.com/UVAFacultySenate

Secondly, we have set up a wordpress site to allow people to collaborate, blog, make suggestions and comments on ideas/proposed actions concerning the recent events. To comment, users must provide an email address, but it's not published with their comment. The wordpress site is at:

http://pages.shanti.virginia.edu/Faculty_Senate/2012/06/20/questions4bov/#comments

Please pass these important social media portals to any and all interested parties at UVA and the public... We're in the process of getting a Twitter feed, as well. Shayn Peirce-Cottler Tom Marks, and myself will keep you posted and please spread the word about these sites. Please also let us know if you have any other ideas for electronic outreach/ communication.

We owe huge thanks to Jennie Bartell (a graduate student from the Biomedical Engineering Department) who created the wordpress site... Great job Jennie!!

Our twitter feed is @UVAFacultySen. Please follow and retweet announcements and news!

Thanks for all your support...
