The Search for the University's 8th President
After twenty years of exemplary leadership of the University of Virginia, John T. Casteen III has announced his decision to step down from the Presidency at the end of the upcoming academic year. The Board of Visitors announces a national search to recruit the University's eighth president. Information about the process will continue to be posted on this web site.

Jan. 11, 2010 — To all members of the University community:
I write this morning with important news. Today at 2:30 p.m., the University of Virginia Board of Visitors will meet in the Dome Room of the Rotunda to elect the University's eighth president.
For your convenience, the event will be streamed live and available online at http://www.virginia.edu/newpresident.
At 4 p.m., we will welcome our president-elect at a reception in the Newcomb Hall Ballroom. All members of the University community are invited to attend. I hope you will be able to join us for this special event.
