5.1 Libraries
The sixteen libraries at the University of Virginia house over five million volumes, journals, newspapers, videos, sound recordings, and other resources from around the world. VIRGO, the University of Virginia Library's computerized catalog, provides online access to the library's holdings through keyword, author, title, subject, and call number searches. VIRGO also offers on-line access to several periodical indexes providing access to the full-text and abstracts of scholarly journals, newspapers and other sources. Access to VIRGO is provided in all library locations; the system may also be accessed from home and office computers. VIRGO also provides access to LEO, the library's delivery service, through which faculty may request delivery of books and other circulating materials to their academic department office.
