Retirement
In 1987, the Code of Virginia was amended to remove any reference to a mandatory retirement age. Consistent with this amendment, subsequent to any employee's normal retirement age, the appropriate vice president or the president may provide for compulsory retirement upon a determination that age is a bona fide occupational qualification reasonably necessary to the normal operation of the University or that the employee is incapable of performing his/her duties in a safe and efficient manner.
