Research Interests

How peripheral sensory nerve injury can lead to changes in the mature brain. Specifically, identifying and quantifying injury-induced plasticity in primary gustatory nucleus of the brain stem and elucidating the mechanisms that underlie this plasticity. Interests include, nerve injury, degeneration/atrophy, regeneration, cell death, neuronal competition, plasticity, degenerative diseases, and pathologies of nerve injury.
