Strategic Communications

Strategic Communications provides a wide range of services in support of campaign communications, constituent communications, development communications, pan-University publications, and special projects. These services are offered by three groups: Audio & Visual, Editorial & Design, and Interactive Media. The groups work strategically and collaboratively to assist clients in meeting their communications objectives.

Audio & Visual Group

The Audio & Visual Group supports campaign, constituent, and development communications, as well as select pan-University projects, by providing a range of services within the following categories: photography, videography, and podcasting. It also supports major events such as Finals Weekend, stays abreast of emerging technologies in the A/V field, and manages relationships with freelance production groups and vendors, including videographers, editors, musicians, and duplication companies.

Editorial & Design Group

The Editorial & Design Group provides research, writing, editing, design, and pre-press services in support of campaign, constituent, and development communications, both print and Web-based; pan-University publications such as the President's Annual Report; and special projects such as commemorative books and print advertisements. It also manages relationships with freelance writers, designers, illustrators, and pre-press and printing vendors.

Interactive Media Group

The Interactive Media Group supports campaign, constituent, and development communications by handling targeted and mass emails; creating and managing Web sites and Web forms, including campaign Web sites; managing and providing customer service for HoosOnline, an online community for U.Va. alumni; overseeing data integration between HoosOnline and the Advance database; and training internal clients in the use of Kintera Web tools.
