The student organizations listed here are involved in service through local, national and international community service activities, fundraising and activism. Students self-select the Public Service category through the student organization registration processes and staff assign this category to administrative organizations.

  • Tabs on Cancer

    Tabs on Cancer collects can pull tabs to raise money for the Pull Tabs for Charity Foundation and the National Cancer Institute. All you have to do is save your can pull tabs. We collect them and recycle them and the recycling center gives us money for the aluminum, which we in turn give to Pull Tabs for Charity and the National Cancer Institute.

  • Tau Beta Sigma

    Tau Beta Sigma is a National Honorary Band Sorority that provides service to collegiate bands, encourages the advancement of women in the band profession, and promotes and enriches an appreciation of band music through recognition, leadership development, and education of its members.

  • Teach For America

    The purpose of Teach For America at the University of Virginia is to raise awareness and create understanding in the University community about educational inequity in our country. Our organization will encourage students to take an active role in closing the achievement gap by raising their awareness about the national organization Teach For America as one way for recent college graduates to address the vast educational disparities in the United States. By programming panels and screenings, bringing campus visitors, and conducting information sessions we can communicate the urgency of our message to the University and provide students with the resources they need to take action to address educational inequity.

  • The Autistic Self-Advocacy Network

    ASAN is a non-profit organization run by and for autistic people. ASAN’s supporters include autistic adults and youth, those with other distinct neurological types, and neurotypical family members, professionals, educators, and friends. ASAN provides support and services to individuals on the autism spectrum. ASAN also works to change public perception and to combat misinformation by educating communities about persons on the autism spectrum. Our activities include public policy advocacy, community engagement to encourage inclusion and respect for neurodiversity, quality of life oriented research, and the development of autistic cultural activities and other opportunities for autistic people.

  • The Fondu CIO

    The Fondu CIO’s sole purpose is to promote to the UVa community. This website acts as a venue that allows UVa students to learn about one another and if they choose to, arrange stays with one another over breaks throughout the school year. Through providing the homestay matching service the Fondu helps make the transition to college easier for international students and out-of-state students. The homestays will facilitate relationships between UVa students with common interests. We also realize that international students have consciously chosen to go to school in America for an American experience. The homestays therefore contribute to this experience by giving them the opportunity to travel and visit with American UVa students.

    THiNK is a chapter of Liberty in North Korea (LiNK), a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing North Korean refugees in China.

    The U.Va chapter of Theta Delta Chi, the third fraternity founded on grounds, has been in existence since 1857. Over the years, Theta Delt has flourished academically by attracting Scholars and Lawnees, socially with such parties explosive parties as the annual Founder's Day/Halloween party, and philanthropically with the ever growing High Stakes charity event.

    Our mission is to promote leadership, multiculturalism, and self improvement through academic excellence, involvement in and service to the campus and community, as well as being living examples of sisterhood across different races, cultures, religions, backgrounds, and lifestyles.

  • Theta Tau

    the purpose of Theta Tau is to develop and maintain a high standard of professional interest among its members, and to unite them in a strong bond of fraternal fellowship. Theta Tau is the oldest and largest professional engineering fraternity in the United States, with a diverse membership of men and women studying engineering at more than 40 campuses.


    Although this organization has members who are University of Virginia students and may have University employees associated or engaged in its activities and affairs, the organization is not a part of or an agency of the University. It is a separate and independent organization which is responsible for and manages its own activities and affairs. The University does not direct, supervise or control the organization and is not responsible for the organization’s contracts, acts or omissions.

  • To Write Love On Her Arms UChapter at UVa

    TWLOHA Chapter at UVa is part of the international nonprofit organization To Write Love On Her Arms, dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for those struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury and suicide. We exist to inspire, encourage, and invest directly into treatment both locally and around the world. By building community, The TWLOHA Chapter at UVa hopes to organize gatherings, cultivate awareness, and create a network that actively raises funds and reaches people with a message of hope and help for those who are hurting.

  • Trigon Engineering Society

    Trigon Engineering Society is a service and social society founded at the University of Virginia in 1924. Admission is open to all engineers.
