User Group Meeting
August 10, 2009
Meeting Notes:
Opening Statements: Open enrollment began August 5 with success. ~3000 logged on to SIS during the early AM on August 5.
Q&A:
- How do the students know their position on the Waitlist?
- Student Center - My Class Schedule
- Can a student waitlist for more than one discussion?
- If the student is already enrolled in the class and discussion, they can’t get on the waitlist for a different discussion. If the student isn’t enrolled in the class at all, they can get on the waitlist for two different sections of the lecture (and corresponding discussions), but not on the wait list twice for the same lecture and two different discussions.
- Can two students swap their seats in a section?
- Not easily. It would be best to have your department administrator to do the swap.
- How to use the Edit feature?
- When does the Waitlist run?
- Each night, around 2AM. It is not immediate.
- What are the prompts for 4-HELP?
- Student/Faculty users 3-2, then 1 for UREG, 2 for SFS, or 3 for Undergrad Admissions
- Administrative users 3-3, then 1 for UREG, 2 for SFS, 3 for Undergrad Admissions, or 4 for the SIS Helpdesk
- Can a student enroll in both courses that are either combined or equivalent and receive credit for both? This question comes from the Arts and Sciences Handbook for the Creation of Courses.
- Equivalent courses – NO
- Combined courses – YES
- Judy McPeak has sent an email to Gordon Stewart about this.
- Is CR/NC grading option being phased out? This question comes from the Arts and Sciences Handbook for the Creation of Courses.
- Judy McPeak has sent an email to Gordon Stewart about this.
- How can we know when UREG has added approved courses to the Catalog?
- UREG has begun sending an email notification to departments and schools when a course has been added to the Catalog and is ready to be scheduled.
- Couldn’t we have just one form to cover both CCI & CCT?
- Each form is unique and less information is required on the CCT.
- When requesting a title change, do we have to fill out the form completely?
- The minimum amount of information for identifying the course, its components, and the effective date should be completed.
- Full/time student vs. Part/time student. If the student is part-time, but the system shows them as full-time, can the student go in and pay what they think they owe?
- They could, but if their status isn’t changed, a block could be placed on the account, causing them to lose their classes (answered by Sarah Jordan from SFS).
- How can students update their address in SIS?
- All current students gained the ability to do so on Friday, August 14th at 5:00 p.m.
