RSS - School Specific Information


The RSS (Registrar School Specific) function is used to update degree programs, advisors and registration blocks.

Add a block to a student's record:

Type RSS as the function <enter>

Type the student ID number <tab>

Type the appropriate term code (i.e. 053 for fall 2005)

Type OREG as the office code

Press your select key <PF12>

Tab to the REGISBLOCK field and type the letter 'Y'

Press your update key <PF6>


Remove a block to a student's record:

Type RSS as the function <enter>

Type the student ID number <tab>

Type the appropriate term code (i.e. 053 for fall 2005)

Type OREG as the office code

Press your select key <PF12>

Tab to the letter “Y”in the REGISBLOCK field and press the space bar (removing the 'Y')

Press your update key <PF6>


ID Number:  The 9-character number used to identify the student.

Office:  OREG for Office of the Registrar.

Term:  Always verify that you are updating for the correct term.  During certain times of the year, information must be update for the current term as well as the future term.

 School:  You have update only for your school.

 Att Stat:  For display only; the student’s attendance status.

 Name:  Entered as Last name <tab key> First, Other names.

Association:  The association as listed in table 130.  (Valid only for College of Arts and Sciences)

Transfer Terms:  The number which equals the number of terms a student had attended another college or university prior to enrolling to the University of Virginia.  The value can be any number from 1-9.

Regis Block:  A Y in this field indicates the student must report to his or her school for any reason before completing registration.  A Y in this field causes a message to be generated on the registration form; will not allow the Here indicator to be set; and must be removed by the Dean’s office prior to completion of registration by the student.  You may only block those enrolled in your own school.  All registration blocks may be viewed on RRB.

Res College:  The appropriate code from table 279 is entered here if the student is living in a residential college.

Deg Pgm:  The 6 digit code for the student’s primary degree program.  Valid values are in table 131.

Adv:  ISIS provides the capability of entering an advisor number for three academic programs such as major, minor, and concentration.  Undergraduate schools assign academic advisors at the time of matriculation - even though the major is undeclared at that time.  Graduate schools may also assign advisors during the admission process.  The data is maintained on this screen by entering the 4-digit number assigned to the instructor.  USE CAUTION to insure the advisor number entered corresponds to the correct degree program as listed on the screen.  Instructor numbers must be retrieved from the IIQ screen.

Deg Pgm:  Enter the 6-digit code for the student’s second program of study, if applicable.  This can be a second major, a minor, or a concentration.  Valid values are in table 131.
