Current students can submit address changes on-line by using ISIS
Online. Alumni can submit address changes through HoosOnline,
sponsored by the UVA Alumni Association.
University
regulations require students to notify the University of any change of
permanent or local address within 48 hours. The student bears the full
responsibility for any consequences resulting from University communications
misdirected or not received because of an incorrect address.
Each fall semester, the University publishes a telephone directory of registered
students. To prevent your name and number from being listed, visit UREG
(Office
of the University Registrar) in Carruthers Hall or write PO Box 400203,
Charlottesville VA 22904-4203. Requests to activate a directory privacy
flag must be received
before 5:00 PM on Friday, September 9. If you request
a directory flag after the directory has gone to print, your name will
remain
in the printed book that year but will be removed from the Student Locator
listings. For more information about the various types of privacy flags,
please see Privacy of Academic
Records.
NOTE: By direction from the Board of Visitors, the University
does not provide mailing lists for commercial purposes, other than those
directly sponsored by University departments. Lists are not sold to third
parties under any circumstances.
You can have as many as five different addresses listed on ISIS:
-
Present Address: Usually a Charlottesville or dormitory
address, this is the address to which the University mails most general
correspondence. For graduate students, it is used September-April for
all correspondence, including bills.
-
Permanent Address: For most undergraduates, the permanent
address is a parent's or home address. Bills for undergraduates are
sent to this address year-round. For graduate students, this address
is used May-August for all mailings, including bills (thus, many graduate
students prefer to have their permanent address the same as their present
address).
-
Next-of-Kin Address 1: The next-of-of-kin address is
used for occasional mailings to parents, usually concerning events such
as parents' weekend and graduation exercises.
- Next-of-Kin
Address 2: If, for example, your parents live at two different
addresses, you can list a second next-of-kin address so that each address
will receive next-of-kin mailings. Changes to the second next-of-kin
address can be made only in writing or in person at the Office of the
University Registrar.
-
Billing Address: If you want your bills mailed to an
address distinct from all other correspondence, you can establish a
billing address with Student Financial Services. Requests for a billing
address must be made in writing to SFS, and remain in effect until a
request is made in writing to change or remove the address.
