Electronic Waitlist Moves To ISIS Online
https://waitlist.web.virginia.edu/waitlist
The electronic wait list has been enhanced (you can access the wait list via ISIS Online).
If you are offered a space in a class you will receive notice via your U.Va. e-mail account and you will be given 24
hours to add the class through ISIS. After 24 hours you will be automatically removed from the waitlist and
will not be able to add back in.
Special Note for Faculty
Beginning this semester, an electronic waitlist system is available as part of ISIS Online (security is enforced via net badge
which you will need to log into first). This functionality is an enhanced version of the online waitlist system that was available
in Arts & Sciences for the past few semesters. The system will be available to all the faculty teaching undergraduate classes on
August 2. If you would like to set up a waitlist for an undergraduate class you are teaching, please visit https://waitlist.web.virginia.edu/waitlist
- Creation of the Wait List: Wait lists are created by you, or a designated member of your department, by going to the
above web page. Once you create a wait list, the wait list restriction automatically is placed on ISIS by the system. This restriction over-rides
all other restrictions since you, as the faculty, decide who gains a place in your course.
- Real Time Course Enrollment Data: The waitlist system includes real-time data on the current enrollment of your course.
Once you offer a student a space in your class (transmitted by an automatically generated message to the student’s U.Va. e-mail account), the student
has 24 hours to respond by enrolling him or herself in ISIS. Once the student enrolls, your actual enrollment numbers are updated. By viewing your
authorized enrollment, actual enrollment and the number of invites still pending, you can have an accurate count of the number of students in your
class. Arts & Sciences departmental staff will no longer be responsible for processing the course action forms created by the waitlist system.
- Priority Sorting: When reviewing your waitlist, you may sort students by major, year, school of enrollment and/or date
and time they entered their name on the waitlist.
- Comment Box: The system includes an optional comment box, which you may activate to request information from students
seeking a seat in your class. For example, you could use the box to ask students why they would like a space in your class or whether they have
completed prerequisite classes. The system displays each student’s answer when you hold the mouse over the name of the student.
- Students Enroll in Courses Through ISIS: Students access the waitlist system through ISIS Online. When a student attempts
to add a waitlisted class to her schedule, she will be directed by ISIS Online to enter her name on the waitlist.
- Automatic Removals: Students have only 24 hours from the time you send an offer of space to their U.Va. e-mail account
to respond. If a student fails to respond to an offer within 24 hours, ISIS automatically removes the student from your waitlist and the student may
not add back into your waitlist.
- E-mailing Waitlisted Students: The system allows faculty to email individual students on the waitlist.
If you choose to use the wait list, do not enroll students via course action forms. All enrollments/adds should be processed via the wait list except
when there are extenuating circumstances.
If you would like to see a demonstration of the system, sessions will be held in Cabell 422 on the following days:
- August 3rd at 11am
- August 10th at 10am
- August 16th at 11am
If you have questions about the waitlist system, please contact Lori Schuyler (lkg8g@virginia.edu ) or Rachel Most (rm5f@virginia.edu). For technical assistance, send an
e-mail to isis-waitlist-support@virginia.edu.
