Application   Each candidate must complete an application, which includes several essays. The Committee on Admissions carefully reviews these essays for both content and writing ability. The application fee is $75 for U.S. citizens and $100 for non-U.S. citizens. Transcripts of all academic work are reviewed for overall grade average, trends of grades, and particular scholastic strengths.

Two recommendations are required from persons who are able to evaluate the applicant's academic or work performance. For applicants with significant work experience, it is helpful if both recommendations are work-related.

All applicants must take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT), administered four times each year by the Educational Testing Service. We urge applicants to take the GMAT in October or January, so that admissions decisions can be made by early in the spring. Applicants taking the GMAT in March or June will be evaluated on a space-available basis.

Applicants whose native language is not English must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), administered by the Educational Testing Service.

Interviews   While not required, personal interviews are strongly recommended and become part of the evaluation process. Prospective students are encouraged to visit the School, to attend a class with a current student, and to talk with a member of the admissions staff. Visits are scheduled between September and March when classes are in session. To arrange to visit the School, or for further information, write or call The Darden School.
