Summer Session

The summer session is an integral part of the University year, and the courses offered then are similar in character to courses given in the regular session and have the same credit value. Candidates should be graduates of accredited high schools or have had an equivalent preparation. Admission to the summer session does not constitute admission to the regular session in September. Inquiries concerning summer admission should be addressed to the Director of the Summer Session, 210 Miller Hall, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA 22903; dkm2c@virginia.edu; www.virginia.edu/~summer.

The Summer Foreign Language Institute offers intensive nine-week courses in French, German, Italian, Latin, Russian, Spanish, and Tibetan in a total immersion environment. Students live with members of the teaching staff in special language houses, where six hours of daily classroom instruction are supplemented by activities in the target language. Introductory courses carry 12 credits and satisfy the language requirement at the University. For further information, contact the Director of the Foreign Language Institute, 210 Miller Hall, University of Virginia, Charlottesville, VA 22903; vrm3J@virginia.edu; www.virginia.edu/~summer.
