Employment under the Federal Work-Study Program

Job Placement   If you accept an award of employment you must visit the Office of Financial Aid to Students once you arrive in Charlottesville to be placed in a specific job in one of the various departments or offices within the University. If you are not employed by October 1, your Work-Study may be cancelled.

Employment Regulations   Students normally work between eight and fifteen hours per week when classes are in session and, in some instances, may elect to work up to 40 hours per week during vacation periods. No student will be paid less than the federal minimum wage.
