Enrollment Instructions - Overview

Spring 2010 and January Terms

Enrollment at the University requires completion of these steps:

1. Enroll in Classes

Graduate students (except Law, Darden, and Medicine) can enroll in fall classes beginning November 2 at 7:00 AM, and are recommended to enroll prior to December when tuition bills are produced.
New Graduate students: Tuesday, December 1
Returning Undergraduate students can enroll once their enrollment appointment date and time is reached. This date and time is available in the SIS Student Center. (Undergraduate students should check to see if their School/Department requires them to see an advisor before enrolling.)
January Term: 4th and 3rd year appointment 3:00 PM on Monday, November 16;
2nd and 1st year appointment 3:00 PM on Tuesday, November 17
Monday, November 23: College of Arts and Sciences maximum units increase to 17 and Commerce maximun units increase to 18

All holds must be cleared before enrolling in classes. A complete listing of classes can be found in the Schedule of Classes through Class Search.


2. Pay Tuition & Fees

A bill will be available in December on-line through QuikPay@UVA (accessible through SIS), and must be paid or properly deferred by the January due date. Payment can be made by check to the address on the billing statement, electronically by e-check or credit card, or in person at the Cashier’s Office in Carruthers Hall.


3. Enrollment Instructions

In order to be considered enrolled at the University for the Spring 2010 term, students must be enrolled in at least one class and not have any negative service indicators (holds) by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22. Students with Negative Service Indicators at this time will have their classes dropped.

  • Students not considered enrolled at the University by 5:00 p.m. on January 22 will be required to complete the Late Enrollment process in order to become enrolled.
  • Privileges related to the University ID card will be discontinued beginning on Tuesday, January 26 for those not considered enrolled by 5:00 p.m. on January 22 and who do not complete late enrollment.

4. Late Enrollment

Complete the Late Enrollment Form only if Spring 2010 classes were cancelled due to Negative Service Indicators or had not enrolled in at least one class prior to the 5:00 p.m. Friday, January 22 deadline.

Instructions

  1. Complete student portion of the form
  2. Present form to Student Financial Services for approval
  3. Present form to dean's office (after 7th week only) for approval
  4. Return form to UREG to activate your Spring 2010 term
  5. Enroll back in classes


Release guidelines for Course Enrollment   Each student is assigned an enrollment appointment date and time based on the following guidelines.

All returning Graduate Students (enrollment appointment dates begin one week before undergraduates)

  1. Academic fourth-year Transition, Echols, Rodman, men's and women's basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, swimming and diving, track and field, and tennis; baseball, softball, rowing, and wrestling, random within year
  2. Academic fourth-year, random within year
  3. Academic third-year Transition, Echols, Rodman, men's and women's basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, swimming and diving, track and field, and tennis; baseball, softball, rowing, and wrestling, random within year
  4. Academic third-year, random within year
  5. Academic second-year and Academic first-year Transition, Echols, Rodman, men's and women's basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, swimming and diving, track and field, and tennis; baseball, softball, rowing, and wrestling, random within year 
  6. Academic second-year, random within year
  7. Academic first-year, random within year
  8. College students who fail to verify their enrollment
