How to Use ISIS

ISIS, the Integrated Student Information System, is available Monday through Friday approximately 7 A.M. to 1 A.M.; Saturday from 8 A.M. to 7:15 P.M.; and Sunday from 11 A.M. to 1 A.M. Course enrollment (add/drop/change) and final registration functions are restricted to certain times of the year. All other functions are available year-round.

  • First, connect to http://www.virginia.edu/isis. ISIS Online is supported for use with Internet Explorer, versions 5.0 and higher; Firefox; or Netscape, be sure to use version 7.0 or higher
  • Pop-up-Blocker: If you have a 'Pop-Up-Blocker' feature enabled on your browser, please disable the feature to view the ISIS login screen. In IE, add "virginia.edu" as an "address of web site to allow" pop-ups. In Firefox, add "virginia.edu" as an allowed site.
  • To protect the security of your records, you are required to change your password to any other nine-character password the first time you use ISIS. When you select your new password you will be required to answer any two of the ten security questions. Should you forget your password in the future, you will be able to reset your access on-line by correctly answering your security questions. You can also be reactivated by contacting UREG-(Office of the University Registrar) at ureg@virginia.edu
  • Logout: Please use the Logout button in ISIS Online. By logging out properly, resources are made available faster for reuse by others using the system. Your data is also cleared properly from the system. Close the internet browser when possible to clear all private data.

The functions available through ISIS are:

  • Address Change: change your local and permanent addresses
  • Next of Kin Changes: change your next-of-kin address
  • Password Change: change your ISIS Online password
  • Course Enrollment: to add fall or spring courses (not through Continuing & Professional Studies)
  • Course Availability: to view real time availability of courses
  • Day & Time Schedule: to view your class schedule (courses, time, day, and building)
  • Summer Registration: to add summer courses, including final registration and payment by credit card*
  • Financial Aid Awards: grants, scholarships, and loans awarded for the semester
  • Financial Aid Status: information to complete financial aid applications
  • Degrees & Honors: completed degrees, thesis and dissertation titles, academic honors, probations, awards
  • Grade Report: Request a printed grade report be mailed to you or a third party (available for current and previous semester only)
  • Grades: Grades for completed courses, including GPA (for undergraduate students and graduate Nursing and graduate Commerce students)
  • Hope & Life (1098-T): information from prior tax year required for filing U.S. tax returns
  • Majors and Advisors: Your major(s), minor(s) or concentration(s), and advisor(s)
  • Non-UVA Credit: credits transferred to UVA from other schools, Advanced Placement credits, Advanced Standing exemptions
  • Non-UVA Scholarship: non-University awards that have been received and credited
  • Registration Blocks: blocks by various offices that can prevent course enrollment and/or final registration
  • Semester Schedule: Current courses and when and where they meet
  • Student Accounts: payments, credits, adjustments, and other student charges
  • Test Scores: Standardized test scores submitted at the time of application to UVA, including SAT, ACT, TOEFL, GRE, GMAT, etc.
  • Transcript: Unofficial transcript of coursework taken at UVA since 1985
    • Student: Students select this option to view their own transcript
    • Faculty - Individual: Advisors reviewing an individual student by I.D. number (requires special access)
    • Faculty - Advisor List: Faculty list of advisees from which an individual transcript can be selected
    • Faculty - Assoc List: College Association Deans (requires special access)
    • Faculty - Deg Pgm List: Certain departmental representatives (requires special access)
    • VISTAA - Academic Audit: Undergraduate degree progress reports
    • Student: Students select this option to view their own audit
    • Faculty - Individual: Advisors reviewing an individual student by I.D. number (requires special access)
    • Faculty - Advisor List: Faculty list of advisees from which an individual audit can be selected
    • Faculty - Assoc List: College Association Deans (requires special access)
    • Faculty - Deg Pgm List: Certain departmental representatives (requires special access)
    • VISTAA - What if: Create a VISTAA report that evaluates your courses based on the requirements for the "What If” major/minor/concentration degree progress reports
    • Student: Students select a new major and an optional second major, minor and/or concentration to view their own audit


New to ISIS

How to access ISIS:

  • Go to www.virginia.edu/registrar
  • Click on the ISIS icon (make sure you disable your pop up blocker)
  • Select Login Method: By University ID (Default) or By ISIS ID
  • Enter your 9-digit University ID or ISIS ID (SSN)
  • Do not enter any information for the password
  • Click on ‘First Time User’
  • Create a 1 to 9 character Temporary Password
  • For validation purposes re-enter your Temporary Password
  • You will receive an email in your @virginia.edu email account with further instructions
  • Close browser
  • Click on the link within your email to finalize the First Time User process
  • Select Login Method: By University ID (Default) or By ISIS ID
  • Enter your 9-digit University ID or ISIS ID (SSN)
  • Enter your Temporary Password
  • Click on 'Submit Authentication'
  • Create a new 9 character password
  • Re-enter your new password
  • Answer 2 out of 10 security questions
  • Submit 'First Time Password Reset'
  • Close browser
  • Click on ISIS Online to log back into ISIS with newly created password


Creating a Password
Once you successfully enter ISIS for the first time, you will have to create a new password:
  • your new password must be 9 characters long, letters or numbers
  • the first four characters of your new password cannot be the same as the first four digits of your student or ISIS (employee) I.D. number
  • the last four characters of your new password cannot be the same as the last four digits of your student or ISIS (employee) I.D. number
  • the first four characters and/or the last four character of your new password cannot be the same as your month and day of birth
  • your new password must include at least one of these special characters: ~   !   @   #   $   %   ^   &   *

When you enter your new password, you will be prompted to answer two out of ten security questions (mother's maiden name, favorite color, street you first lived on, etc.) that will be stored as part of an on-line password-reset function. Should you forget your new password in the future and have your ISIS access suspended, you will be able to reset your own access by correctly matching the answers to the two questions for which you have stored answers


Reset Password
If you have forgotten your password:

  • Select Login Method: By University ID (Default) or By ISIS ID
  • Enter your 9-digit University ID or ISIS ID (SSN)
  • Do not enter any information for the password
  • Click on ‘Reset Password’
  • Answer your two security questions
  • Create a new 9 character password
  • Re-enter your new password
  • Answer 2 out of 10 new security questions
  • Close browser
  • Cick on ISIS Online to log back into ISIS
  • Contact our office at 434/924-4122 or email ureg@virginia.edu if you have any problems logging into ISIS
    • Your email must answer THREE of the following questions:
      1. Last 4 digits of your student ID number:
      2. Date of birth:
      3. Permanent address (when you were a student):
      4. Date of graduation (if applicable):
      5. Course completed:
      6. Last term enrolled:

Reactivating Access After a Suspension

 
  • If your access to ISIS is suspended after you have created a nine-character password and answered the security questions, you can re-set your access on-line
  • If your access to ISIS should be suspended before you have created answers to the new security questions, or if in attempting to re-set your own access you should fail to successfully answer your two questions within three attempts, you will need to contact the Office of the University Registrar at 434/924-4122 or ureg@virginia.edu to be manually reactivated
    • Your email must answer THREE of the following questions:
      1. Last 4 digits of your student ID number:
      2. Date of birth:
      3. Permanent address (when you were a student):
      4. Date of graduation (if applicable):
      5. Course completed:
      6. Last term enrolled:
  • UREG will reactivate your ISIS account
  • UREG will confirm that your account has been reset
  • Select Login Method: By University ID (Default) or By ISIS ID
  • Enter your 9-digit University ID or ISIS ID (SSN)
  • Click on “First Time User”
  • Create your password (follow creating a password guideline)
  • Click on submit
  • Close browser
  • Click on ISIS Online to log back into ISIS with either your University ID or ISIS ID and your newly created password
  • Click on the student login button
