Currently enrolled undergraduate students, graduate nursing students, and their advisors may view their VISTAA reports through ISIS On-Line. VISTAA reports at the University of Virginia are based on DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System), which was developed by Miami University in Ohio. Information on the VISTAA reports and some frequently asked questions are below, or choose one of these links for information on creating and viewing your VISTAA report:
Frequently Asked Questions What is a VISTAA report? VISTAA (Virginia Student Academic Audit) is a personalized on-line report that defines each undergraduate academic program offered at the University of Virginia. It evaluates each currently enrolled student's coursework to determine if the courses on the student's record meet the requirements of the declared academic program (major/minor/concentration). Who can access a VISTAA report? Undergraduate students may access their VISTAA reports if they are currently enrolled on-grounds at the University of Virginia. New and transfer students may access their VISTAA reports after they have attended Summer Orientation. Faculty advisors may access the VISTAA reports of their advisees. What do I do if my transfer and/or advanced standing credit do not appear on my VISTAA report? Questions about transfer, advanced standing, and advanced placement notations should be directed to your dean's office. I'm no longer a student at UVa. Can I request a VISTAA report? If you have been enrolled at the University since 2000, you may request a VISTAA report. If you are not currently enrolled, you must enter the term code for the last semester you were enrolled at UVa. For example, if you graduated in May 2004, you would enter '20043' in the term box on the VISTAA Request/View screen. How do I obtain a VISTAA report? VISTAA reports are available through ISIS Online. Returning, new and transfer undergraduate students accessing their VISTAA reports during summer must enter the upcoming fall term code on the Term Code Selections screen when requesting the VISTAA report. Why do I have to "request [an] academic audit" and then check later to "view [my] academic audit"? Now, VISTAA is based on the DARS (Degree Audit Reporting System) program, created by Miami University in Ohio. The internal processing of this program creates the VISTAA report and then makes it available for you to view through ISIS Online throughout the day. Students: you may request a VISTAA report on the same day that you are meeting with your advisor and then view the report by logging into ISIS Online in your advisor's office. I
tried to access my VISTAA report and received the following message: I created a VISTAA report yesterday and when I tried to view it today, it wasn't there. What happened? All VISTAA reports are deleted each night to make room for reports requested the following day. You can request a new VISTAA report and it will be created with the most up-to-date information on your student record. When I print my VISTAA report, the text is so small that I can't read it. How do I make the print font larger? When viewing VISTAA, select print. When the print box opens, select preferences, then effects. Select % of normal size and set it to a number larger than 100. You may need to experiment with the percentage until you find a number that is larger enough to read but does not use excessive amounts of paper. Do I still have to meet with my faculty advisor? VISTAA is not intended to take the place of meeting with your faculty advisor. It is designed to be used by you and your advisor to plan your course of study. VISTAA is for advising purposes only. How are courses assigned to the requirements listed on my VISTAA report? Courses are assigned in the order in which they were taken. Non-UVa credits (transfer/advanced standing/advanced placement and credit by exam) are assigned first. What do I do if a course I took at another institution isn't showing on my VISTAA report? Contact your faculty advisor or your dean's office for questions concerning transfer and advanced standing credit. What do I do if I declared a major/minor/concentration and it does not show on my VISTAA report? Contact the dean's office of your school of enrollment. What do I do if there's an error on my VISTAA report? Contact the dean's office in your school of enrollment or the program director for your major/minor/concentration to report errors on the VISTAA report. What do the symbols/codes on my VISTAA report mean? The following legend is also included at the end of your VISTAA report:
Why is my course listed with zero (0.0) credits? There are two reasons that your course's credits may be reduced to zero: 1) If you receive transfer or advanced standing credit for a course and you also enroll in the same course at the University of Virginia, the credits for the UVa course will be reduced to zero. You cannot earn credits twice for the same course; 2) Some schools at the University of Virginia limit the number of credits that a course can count toward your degree. If you complete more credits than are allowed, those 'over-the-limit' credits will be reduced to zero. Why are the total credits listed on my VISTAA report different from the total on my transcript? The total credits listed on the VISTAA report may not match the total credits listed on your transcript because the CREDIT CHECK requirement lists only those courses/credits that will count toward your degree. Your transcript lists ALL your UVa and Non-UVa credits. Is the VISTAA report an official document? VISTAA is for advising purposes only. It is not an official document. If you need official documentation of your coursework at the University of Virginia, go to the website for UREG (Office of the University Registrar) to order an official transcript. How is a VISTAA report different from a transcript? A transcript lists the courses you have taken and the courses in which you are currently enrolled, grades/credits earned, semester/cumulative grade point averages and honors by semester. The VISTAA report shows the courses you have completed and the courses in which you are currently enrolled as they meet requirements toward your degree.
