The Nyingma and Bön lineages of Tibetan Buddhism, tantric traditions, and Tibetan historical literature and concerns, particularly from the eighth to fifteenth centuries; the current renaissance of Tibetan Buddhism; non-monastic yogic communities; methodological issues such as hermeneutics, phenomenology, literary criticism, systems theory, and so forth within the context of Buddhist Studies. I am also deeply involved in humanities computing and the use of computing technologies to faciliate interdisciplinary and collaborative research in Tibetan Studies.

Current Projects:
Since 1999, I have been intensively involved with leading the Tibetan and Himalayan Digital Library (www.thdl.org). THDL is a major initiative in humanities computing and is attempting to build a model digital library based upon a specific part of the world (namely, Tibet and the Himalayas). As such, it includes extensive literature, images, audio-video, maps and much else, while ranging over many different disciplines.
