Morea House and Little Morea:

Located at the west end of the Arboretum, this house (two apartments) built by Professor John Emmet in 1836, is the home of the Principal and Director of Studies.

Mary Munford House:

Originally the "UVA women's dorm," Munford has large lounges and other meeting areas for programming and informal gatherings. The IRC offices are on the first floor of Munford. Except for about six men who live in a small corridor on the first floor, all the residents are women, including all of the first-year women. About 100 people live in Munford, which is not air-conditioned.

A reading room / conference room - which we call the "fishbowl" - is located in the southwest corner of Munford. When you need a break from studying you can enjoy a quiet moment in the "fishbowl", or you can read through one of our many travel guides and dream of far off places. The "fishbowl" can be reserved for meetings and special dinners.

Adjacent to the "fishbowl" is our main meeting room, or The Gathering Place. Tables and chairs for dining are provided, and when the weather is nice, you can find additional seating just outside on the south-facing terrace. The Kluge-Ruhe Collection has agreed to display aboriginal art in the Gathering Place and the overall effect is extremely inviting.

A set of small tables has been provided in what we call the Munford "Klazroom" which is located in the north end of Munford. Normally, the tables are pushed together to make a conference table for 20 people, but during the exam periods they are separated to accommodate individual study spaces. This space is used for seminars, including our University Seminars, yoga classes, and for showing videos. We have an overhead video projector, a VCR, and a DVD player. Large wall maps of all areas of the world are available to be displayed in the "Classroom" and in the "fishbowl" conference room.

Roberta Gwathmey House:

Gwathmey is our largest residence (because so much of Munford is used as communal space), holding about 120 students. The first and third floors are all men, including our 30 first-year men, and the second floor is for women. Each floor is equipped with a large kitchen, and each have an an oven, microwave, refrigerator and sink. The first floor lounge is small but mighty with a large TV, DVD, Play Station and 2 Sofa's. Gwathmey is not air-conditioned.

Lewis House:

Lewis holds about 60 upper-class students and is air-conditioned. Lewis is designed in a suite-style. Several rooms are available with private bathrooms though most are shared. Full kitchens are on each floor.

Hoxton House:

Hoxton holds approximately 40 upper-class students and is air conditioned.  Hoxton is designed in a suite style.  Full kitchens are on each floor..
