Purpose

The Retired Faculty Association of the University of Virginia (RFA) will provide a means for communication between the University of Virginia and its retired faculty, and permit the scheduling of events and programs for its members on a continuing basis.

Our final event for the academic year was the Spring Reception on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, in the Colonnade Club garden. There was no program; just good food, wine, and conversation on an incredibly beautiful spring day in the Academical Village!  Be sure to see Bob Ribando’s wonderful photos:

March 20, 2019, President Ryan’s Lunch for the Retired Faculty

UVA President Jim Ryan’s annual spring Retired Faculty lunch was held on Wednesday, March 20, 2019, noon to 1:30 PM, in the Grand Ballroom at the Boar’s Head Pavilion.

February 11, 2019, Lunch at the Omni Hotel

The third RFA lunch of the academic year started at noon on Monday, February 11, 2019 at the Omni Hotel in downtown Charlottesville.  Our speaker, Louis P. Nelson, Vice  Provost for Academic Outreach and Professor of Architectural History, gave a status report on the Commission on Slavery at the University.

November 12, 2018, Lunch at the Omni Hotel

Our second lunch of the 2018-19 academic year began at noon on Monday, November 12, at the Omni Hotel in downtown Charlottesville.  Roger T. Anderson, Associate Director for Population Research at the UVA Cancer Center, spoke on “The Changing Landscape of Cancer.”

The first RFA lunch of the new 2018-19 started at noon on Monday, September 10, 2018.  Our speaker was the new UVA Director of Athletics, Carla Williams.
