Purpose

The Retired Faculty Association of the University of Virginia (RFA) will provide a means for communication between the University of Virginia and its retired faculty, and permit the scheduling of events and programs for its members on a continuing basis.

New RFA Events for 2018-19

During the coming academic year, the Retired Faculty Association will again have three lunches with interesting speakers at the Omni Hotel and a spring reception at the Colonnade Club.  Here is the new schedule:

Monday, September 10, 2018, Noon, Lunch at the Omni Hotel.  Carla Williams, Director of Athletic Programs, UVA.

Monday, November 12, 2018, Noon, Lunch at the Omni Hotel.  Roger T. Anderson, Associate Director for Population Research at the UVA Cancer Center, will speak on “The Changing Landscape of Cancer.”

Monday, February 11, 2019, Noon, Lunch at the Omni Hotel.  Louis P. Nelson, Associate Provost for Outreach and Professor, Architectural History, UVA, will give a  “Status Report on the Commission of Slavery at the University.”

Tuesday, April 23, 2019, 5-7 PM, Spring Reception at the Colonnade Club. No formal program.

A Retired Faculty Spring Lunch will be hosted by President James E. Ryan on a date to be announced.

Information about membership for the new year and reservations for the September lunch will be sent to all UVA retired faculty members in early August by postal mail and email.  That information also will be posted on this website along with further details about our speakers.  Please mark your calendars now and plan to join us at all of these events!
