The Rotunda is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. For more information about Historical tours please call the Rotunda at 434-924-7969.
All tours are free of charge and meet daily at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m., and 4 p.m. in the Rotunda’s Lower East Oval Room. Historical tours of the Rotunda and the Academical Village are provided by the University Guide Service during the academic school year. During the summer and when school is not in session, tours of the Rotunda’s interior are provided by the Rotunda Guards. No tours are offered during the month of May until after graduation or during the three-week holiday break in December/January.

Tours are accessible to those in wheelchairs, and interpreters are available for the hearing impaired by pre-arrangement. Foreign language brochures are available at the Rotunda. With advance notice, special tours may be arranged with a guide fluent in Spanish, German, or French during the normal academic year through the University Guide Service.
Rotunda Reservations Update:
Soon after Finals weekend 2012, restoration work will begin on the roof of the Rotunda and will continue through 2013. The timeline may need to be extended if problems are encountered once the work is underway. For these reasons, we are currently not accepting reservations for the Dome Room between June 1, 2012, and December 31, 2013. Please check this web site periodically for updates on the construction schedule. There is a possibility that the Dome Room will be available for some periods during the construction project. The other rooms in the Rotunda will still be available for events; however, it is important to keep in mind that construction will be ongoing around the Rotunda, so noise may be an issue for meetings and presentations.

May 17, 2012 — Layout of construction staging area for Rotunda roof & exterior repairs will begin May 21st, and scaffolding installation will begin May 23rd.

All events in the Rotunda must be sponsored by a student CIO, University department or foundation and meet the mission statement of the University.
