Academic Compliance

State Compliance:

The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV) serves as the coordinating body for higher education in the Commonwealth of Virginia. It makes policy recommendations, on a variety of higher education issues, to the governor and the General Assembly.

SCHEV coordinates higher education reporting and planning for all public institutions in the state, including UVA, and publishes data on the institutional performance standards through their policy research and data warehousing in such areas as:

  • capital projects
  • operating budgets
  • program approval
  • student enrollment
  • institutional technology
  • financial aid

Federal Compliance:

The University must comply with various requirements of the U.S. Department of Education, such as the program integrity regulations. The Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, in cooperation with relevant offices at the University, is responsible for ensuring compliance with such regulations.
