Notification of Emergency Situations
The University systems are designed to ensure that students are promptly notified of a critical incident or emergency situation.
These include:
- Cellular telephone text alerts through the UVaAlerts system. Students must register their cell phone number in order to activate this system. A parent's cell phone and email may be registered under secondary contacts. Sign up now.
- LCD flat screen televisions located in key gathering areas across Grounds.
- LED screens located in classrooms which emit an auditory tone and illuminate with an important emergency message.
- An outdoor siren system that uses alarms and voice messages.
