In October 2007 ARNOVA awarded Dr. Einolf the Gabriel G. Rudney Memorial Award for Outstanding Dissertation in Nonprofit and Voluntary Action Research. This award also honors his dissertation committee: Steven Nock, Brad Wilcox, Sarah Corse, Tom Guterbock, and John Nesselroade. He will receive the award at the ARNOVA conference in November. ARNOVA is the "Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action," and this award, endowed in memory of pioneer researcher Gabriel Rudney, is given annually for a Ph.D. dissertation completed and/or defended in the three calendar years preceding the award. Eligible dissertations come from psychologists, economists, public administrators, sociologists, or other scholars and contribute to the advancement of theory, conceptualization, research, or practice in an area closely related to nonprofit organizations or voluntary action. Nominations are especially invited in the issue areas where Gabe Rudney made significant research contributions during his lifetime: patterns of giving in the United States; tax policy and the nonprofit sector; and, comparative international studies.
