Using the WebViewer to request a Space
To access the SOURCE WebViewer:
- Open a web browser
- Type in http://www.virginia.edu/source/
- Once you have accessed the site, be sure to bookmark the location in your browser
The SOURCE site has four buttons on the large row next to the title graphic:
- Events - allows you to view events by date or event type
- Locations - allows you to look at availability of locations either individually, by type of space, or by building
- My Requests - allows you to make a reservation request for a campus location
- My Workflow - allows you to track “to do's” and assignments (used only by service providers)
If you wish to submit a request for a specific space:
- Click on the Locations button at the top of the SOURCE site. After a moment, a grid will appear listing spaces within the University's Student Center, Newcomb Hall.
- If you are interested in spaces located in a different building, click on the appropriate link in the list of buildings on the lower right hand portion of the screen.
- After you have navigated to your desired building, use the calendar on the right of the screen to navigate to the appropriate month, day, and year of your event.
- To look at a particular space's schedule for the week of the day you selected on the calendar, click the icon to the left of the space name.
If you find an available space (where the grid is empty and contains no color blocks) that you want to request, just click the block on the grid representing the appropriate starting time of your event, then follow the instructions below, skipping the first step.
If you wish to submit a request, regardless of any specific space:
- Click on the My Requests button at the top of the SOURCE site. If you are a new user and do not already have a Source account and password, you will see a link for an alternate login page. ("If you are not currently a Source user, or experience problems logging into the Source please click here") Another login page will appear. This page will allow you to log in using your Eservices Username and Password. Your SOURCE account is automatically created upon your first login. Be sure to bookmark that log-in page for future use.
- Once you have signed in, you will be at the "Request An Event" screen. Follow the directions, filling in as much information about the event as you can before clicking on the "Submit" button at the bottom of the page.
- Once you submit your request information, you will receive a summary as your request changes to Pending status. While the event is pending, you may update or cancel the request by choosing one of the buttons at the bottom of the Pending screen.
- Your request will be routed to the appropriate space scheduler or system administrator. When the request has been scheduled, your Pending request will now move to the Approved screen. You will receive an email to confirm or deny the request. Any updates or cancellations after event approval must be made by contacting the appropriate space scheduler. The reply email will contain links to see your pending, tentative or approved requests and contact information for the department scheduler responsible for handling your request.
