arrow OSP Brown Bag Sessions
The Office of Sponsored Programs is offering monthly “Brown Bag” Sessions.

The sessions provide a venue for discussion on a wide variety of topics coming from all functional areas of sponsored research and research administration. We hope these gatherings will be lively, informal sessions devoted to sharing information about sponsored research and that they will provide the opportunity for questions and discussion.

Staring on April 8th, Mike Glasgow will kickoff the sessions with a discussion on “Monthly Expenditure Review.” Monthly sessions will be posted on OSP’s webpage calendar (accessed through the Educational Calendar link- ). There is no pre-registration for these sessions, just bring your lunch and come to share or listen.

The Research Administration Primer Course -
The Office of Sponsored Programs is introducing a new course: The Research Administration Primer.

The course is designed as an overview of sponsored research activities and operations at the University. Its target audience is new employees or those who are taking on sponsored-award-related duties in their current roles.

The course will provide a basis of understanding regarding sponsored funding as this is unique in financial management.

You will hear about terminology, the lifecycle of these awards, what governs the funds, our decisions in administering them, and more.

At present, attendance to the Primer course is intended for new employees. If you have an interest in the course, please contact Gina Corell, OSP's Education and Professional Development Coordinator, at glc2z@virginia.edu or 243-8653 to register.
