speculum is inserted so that your healthcare provider can look
at your cervix with a special microscope and bright light.
- Aside
from the discomfort of the speculum, colposcopy is not painful.
- If
an abnormal area is seen, a biopsy
will be taken. This involves a very brief sharp sensation, about
like having blood drawn.
