About Us

  • Performed in the office.
  • A speculum is inserted so that your healthcare provider can look at your cervix with a special microscope and bright light.
  • Aside from the discomfort of the speculum, colposcopy is not painful.
  • If an abnormal area is seen, a biopsy will be taken. This involves a very brief sharp sensation, about like having blood drawn.
  • Available at UVa Student Health
