  • Performed in some offices or in ambulatory surgery centers
  • Initially, a local anesthetic is injected into the cervix.
  • A beam of light is then used to remove the abnormal area of the cervix.
  • New healthy cells will grow back.
  • Some spotting and discharge may occur after the procedure.
  • This procedure is not widely used today due to high cost. LEEP is more commonly used
