Once you become 18 years old, as a student of
the University of Virginia you have the right to privacy and confidentiality
regarding your medical care.
Your
medical records will be kept confidential and access to information
about you will be limited to those legitimately involved in your
care. Your medical records will be released only in cases of medical
emergencies, in response to court-ordered subpoenas or to persons
you specify with your written consent.
Please
be sure to discuss this issue with your parents. Unless you give permission in writing or by telephone, we are not allowed to divulge information to anyone, including your parents, about your care.
