Allergy Injections
The University Of Virginia Department Of Student Health offers an allergy injection service for students receiving immunotherapy ordered by their outside allergist. The clinic is coordinated by registered nurses who are available to administer injections and to consult with your allergist as indicated. Allergy injections are available by appointment, Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1 p.m.-4 p.m. We do not offer walk in services. To utilize this service, please follow the steps below. If you have questions, you may call 434-924-3915 to speak with an allergy nurse.
Ensuring a smooth transition of services requires careful coordination with your allergist at home. To make this process easier, please print and give the attached Hand-off of Care form to your allergist. The information contained in this document will aid your allergist’s office in preparing your records and vials, while also providing them with our contact information. Your allergists office can either fax these records to us or you may hand-carry them to your first appointment. Returning students, please note that the Hand-Off of Care form must be updated annually. Your vials may be hand delivered or shipped to the address listed below:
All students are required to have an allergy consultation appointment before receiving their first injection at Student Health. This appointment will take approximately 20 minutes. At this appointment, the allergy nurse will:
- review the records sent by your allergist
- have you sign a release form giving us permission to work directly with your allergist
- prepare your chart
- store your vials for future use
- review, and ask you to sign, the Allergy Clinic Student Agreement
This agreement will provide an overview of how the clinic functions and the ways in which we can partner to help you accomplish your therapeutic goals. Please call Student Health at 434-982-3915 to schedule your “allergy consultation” appointment. For your convenience, all subsequent appointments can be scheduled on-line.
