Assessing Your Own Emotional/Psychological Health -
Online Mental Health Assessments
On-line self-assessments provide you with opportunities to take anonymous self-directed screening tests which cover a variety of disorders such as depression/bipolar illness, alcohol problems, substance abuse, eating disorders and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Ulifeline is an interactive website with mental health-related information. Follow the prompts to login as a student attending the University of Virginia, and then click on the link at the top right: "Self E-valuator."
Screening for Mental Health offers screening for: Depression, Bipolar Disorder (Manic-Depression), Alcohol Use, Eating Disorders, Anxiety and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The online screening process is completely confidential and anonymous. UVa Student Health does not collect any identifying information such as names, e-mail or IP addresses. Neither Student Health nor the sponsoring organizations can view your individual results.
It is also important to know that on-line screenings are not a substitute for a full evaluation by a mental health professional. Screenings can provide you with valuable information about whether your symptoms are consistent with a variety of mental health problems. If you are concerned about the results of your on-line screening, we strongly encourage you to contact Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) to schedule an appointment for an initial intake evaluation (243-5150). Services at CAPS are available to all full-time enrolled students at UVa and they are free of charge and completely confidential. We also have after-hours crisis consultation by telephone available at 972-7004.
Taking these screenings can be the first step in taking care of your mental health. Please don't hesitate to contact us for more assistance.
