The Office of Health Promotion offers a smoking cessation seminar to UVA students. With the help of a smoking cessation specialist and your peers, you get assistance in developing your own individual quit plan, and learn how to deal with smoking triggers common to young adults and how to maintain a non-smoking lifestyle. The seminar series has four classes in total.
Issues such as stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, weight control and alcohol also play a role in why people smoke. The resources listed below offer individual counseling, group counseling or individual consultations addressing one or more of these concerns. Seeking assistance will better prepare you for your quit date and help you avoid a relapse.
