Fall Open Enrollment begins July 15, 2013

What's New for the 2013-2014 Student Health Plan?

  1. Adding a $200 Inpatient Hospital Copay (currently no such copay)
  2. Increasing Individual In-Network Out-of-Pocket Maximum to $2,000 (currently $1,500) and Out-of-Network Maximum to $4,000 (currently $2,000) (Family 2x)
  3. Adding Individual Out-of-Network Deductible of $500 (Family 2x) (current deductible is $250, regardless of network; this modification would maintain $250 in-network deductible and add new $500 out-of-network deductible)
  4. Change Pharmacy Copays to Generic - $10, Preferred Brand - $30, Non Preferred Brand - $50 (current tier is Generic - $10, Preferred Brand - $30, Non Preferred Brand - $30)
  5. Elimination of Continuation Plan; Conversion Plans Will Be Available to May Graduates *

All University of Virginia students are required to maintain health insurance as a condition of enrollment.

The University has renewed its contract with Aetna Student Health to administer the 2013-2014 student health plan. The annual premium will increase by 6.9%.

NOTES:  Premium rates are cumulative, e.g. student + spouse = $6,456; student + child= $5,902.

Note: If you enroll in the insurance plan, you cannot cancel coverage during the plan period. You will not be entitled to a refund for any unused portion of the plan, regardless of the payment option you select. You are financially responsible for the full premium.

Students may enroll on-line. Payment for the Fall plan must be paid in full during the enrollment process.

The deadline for Fall Open Enrollment is September 30, 2013. 

Spring/Summer Session Enrollment: Only new students entering for the spring semester are eligible to purchase a partial year plan for spring/summer coverage at the spring/summer premium of $1,718. Coverage will be effective January 1 through August 14, 2014.
