University of Virginia Student Health Insurance Program 2013-14

Spring Open Enrollment begins December 2, 2013

What's New for the 2013-2014 Student Health Plan?

  1. Adding a $200 Inpatient Hospital Copay (currently no such copay)
  2. Increasing Individual In-Network Out-of-Pocket Maximum to $2,000 (currently $1,500) and Out-of-Network Maximum to $4,000 (currently $2,000) (Family 2x)
  3. Adding Individual Out-of-Network Deductible of $500 (Family 2x) (current deductible is $250, regardless of network; this modification would maintain $250 in-network deductible and add new $500 out-of-network deductible)
  4. Change Pharmacy Copays to Generic - $10, Preferred Brand - $30, Non Preferred Brand - $50 (current tier is Generic - $10, Preferred Brand - $30, Non Preferred Brand - $30)
  5. There will be no continuation coverage from the 2013-2014 plan. Coverage under the 2013-2014 plan ends on August 14, 2014, or sooner if you become ineligible due to nonpayment. Students who expect to graduate during the 2013-2014 academic year should take this factor into account before purchasing the 2013-2014 Aetna Student Health plan, either for themselves or any qualifying dependents. Graduating students during the 2013-2014 academic year will need to secure independent health coverage as they will not be permitted to continue coverage under the Aetna Student Health plan beyond August 14, 2014.
