Housing Options for SLI Students

Students at Dinner

On-Grounds.

The university dormitory provides a convenient housing option for out-of-state and visiting students. SLI students can reserve a room in the summer session dorms by following the link to Conferences Services. SLI participants should register for housing as Summer Session students. The cost of the dormitory in summer 2009 was $20 per night. The 2010 figure will be posted on the Conference Services website www.virginia.edu/housing/conferences/
as soon as it has been announced.

Off-Grounds:

SLI students are not required to live on-Grouonds: There are many off-campus houses and apartments for sublet in the summertime within close proximity of the university. Please see the off-grounds housing page www.uvastudentcouncil.com/offgrounds/ for information on how to find a sublet house or apartment. Or, contact the Off-Grounds Housing manager, Vicki Hawes at vlh4n@virginia.edu.

The Tibetan SLI offers a language residence to foster a close-knit community amoung the students as well as encourage the use of Tibetan in daily life. A trained Residence Director who is fluent in Tibetan lives in the house with the students and helps students extend their explorations of Tibetan language and culture beyond the walls of the classroom. To reserve a space in the language house, please contact Conference Services.
