Classes
Class size is limited to provide an optimal language-learning environment. Six hours a day are devoted to formal instruction by the faculty. This consists of classroom work, drill sessions, conversation practice, and work in the media center. In the evening, all participants gather for ninety-minute activities related to culture and course work. The number of instructional faculty allows for individualized and group instruction not usually available in standard language classrooms.
Attendance in all three sessions (morning, afternoon, and evening) is required of all students, regardless of whether they are enrolled for credit or non-credit. Furthermore, every student, regardless of type of enrollment, must earn a passing grade in each class of the first half of the SLI in order to participate in the second half of the program.
