The University is laying the groundwork for an ambitious effort to raise $3 billion in private gifts by 2011. The target is more than double the $1.4 billion raised in U.Va.'s last campaign, and it ranks as one of the highest set by any university in the nation, public or private.
A new Campaign Executive Committee held its first meetings in June 2004 in New York and in the Rotunda. The Board of Visitors received a briefing on the strategy and vision for the endeavor from University President John T. Casteen III and Robert D. Sweeney, senior vice president for development and public affairs.
